Too Many Apples

Apple picking is one of the reasons why I love autumn in the Northeast! My friend Pooja and I went to Terhune Orchards in Princeton, New Jersey, then into a baking frenzy this past weekend! Two pies, one tart, and a few dozen assorted puff pastries. And if that wasn’t enough apple-inspired projects, I’ve taken this opportunity to try some lomographic effects on my photos from the orchard! Mess Then Success

Originally, these started out as chocolate cupcakes awaiting a cold frosting of coconut mousse… But then the mousse never set enough to pipe on top of the cupcakes. Luckily, I had marshmallows to turn these into chocolate cupcakes with marshmallow topping and the coconut mousse to… just back to coconut mousse!

Chocolate & Raspberry Croissants

Out of all the fruits summer brings us, raspberries are one of last to go. So to celebrate before autumn really seeps in, I made some snack sized croissants filled with raspberry jam and chocolate morsels.

Coming back to my parent’s home can be very frustrating. However, there are always the pleasant moments and activities I miss. One of my daily reads, Anna the Red’s Bento Factory, is doing a series of food recreation from Hayao Miyazaki. It’s so adorable and clever. I always drooled over how bountiful and saturated the food in his movies look – especially the huge banquets in Spirited Away. I hope she recreates one of them!
